As the second-largest producer of natural gas in the U.S—and the only gas-producing state without a severance tax—it’s time for Pennsylvania to take action. That’s why I introduced House Bill 2253, which calls for a reasonable, progressive natural gas tax. If enacted, it’s estimated that my bill would generate nearly $250 million in revenue in the first year alone, allowing us to invest in our infrastructure, our schools and our citizens. The gas industry has benefited for years from Pennsylvania’s natural resources; it’s time the commonwealth’s citizens received their fair share of revenue from our valuable commodity. You can read more about my bill here. I recently spoke at a press conference Gov. Tom Wolf held on behalf of my legislation and a companion Senate bill. You can hear listen to my remarks here.
